**BIOC51** is an investigational inhaled antimicrobial powder developed for treating chronic pulmonary infections caused by antibiotic-resistant bacteria, particularly *Pseudomonas aeruginosa*, in cystic fibrosis (CF) patients. It consists of a novel polyglucosamine biopolymer covalently modified with N-diazeniumdiolate nitric oxide (NO) donors, enabling controlled, spontaneous NO release to penetrate CF lung mucus, eradicate free-floating bacteria, and disrupt biofilms formed by resistant pathogens. BIOC51 has demonstrated broad-spectrum in vitro activity against over 100 bacterial strains, including Gram-positive and Gram-negative species like *Bacillus anthracis*, and has received FDA Qualified Infectious Disease Product (QIDP) designation to expedite development.[1][2][5][6]
