Drug intelligence / Profile preview
BioCart II is an autologous cell therapy product developed by ProChon Biotech for the repair of symptomatic cartilage defects in the knee. It consists of a three-dimensional fibrin-based scaffold seeded with the patient's own chondrocytes, which are expanded ex vivo. The construct is designed to be implanted into the femoral condyle to promote the formation of hyaline-like cartilage, offering a potential improvement over the standard microfracture technique. ProChon Biotech was later acquired by Histogenics, which integrated the technology into its own cartilage repair pipeline, including the related NeoCart product.
