Drug intelligence / Profile preview
BioChaperone glargine is a novel formulation of the long-acting basal insulin analog, insulin glargine, developed by Adocia. Standard insulin glargine is typically formulated at an acidic pH (pH 4.0) to maintain solubility, which prevents it from being mixed in a single solution with rapid-acting insulins or GLP-1 receptor agonists that require a neutral pH. BioChaperone glargine utilizes Adocia's proprietary BioChaperone technology—specifically the polyanionic amphiphilic polymer BioChaperone BC147—to solubilize and stabilize insulin glargine in aqueous solution at a physiological, neutral pH. This formulation serves as the foundational component for several of Adocia's combination programs, including BioChaperone Combo (co-formulated with insulin lispro) and BioChaperone Glargine GLP-1 (co-formulated with dulaglutide or liraglutide).
