Drug intelligence / Profile preview
BioChaperone glargine lispro is a fixed-dose co-formulation of long-acting basal insulin glargine and rapid-acting insulin lispro, developed using Adocia’s proprietary BioChaperone technology. This formulation enables the stable combination of these two insulins in a single injection by solubilizing insulin glargine at neutral pH, which is typically not possible due to their differing physicochemical properties[1][5][7]. The product contains 75% insulin glargine and 25% insulin lispro. It is designed to provide both prandial (mealtime) and basal (background) glycemic control for people with diabetes, potentially simplifying treatment regimens by reducing the number of daily injections required compared to separate or premixed formulations[1][4][5]. Clinical studies have shown that this co-formulation offers faster onset and longer duration of action than traditional premix insulins, with improved early postprandial glucose control and fewer hypoglycemic episodes compared to some comparators[1][4][5]. The primary indication under development is for type 1 diabetes mellitus; development for type 2 diabetes has been reported but not recently active[2].
