BIOD-107 is an **ultra-rapid-acting prandial insulin formulation** developed as a more rapidly absorbed alternative to currently marketed mealtime insulin analogs. It consists of recombinant human insulin formulated for subcutaneous administration, intended to provide improved post-meal glucose control for patients with diabetes, particularly those using insulin pumps. BIOD-107 was developed by Biodel (now Albireo Pharma, a subsidiary of Ipsen) and compared directly in clinical studies to Humalog (insulin lispro) in subjects with type 1 diabetes to assess pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and injection site tolerability[1][3][5].
