The Biodesign Otologic Repair Graft is a biologic graft material derived from porcine small intestinal submucosa (SIS). It is a multi-layer, decellularized extracellular matrix (ECM) that retains natural matrix molecules such as collagen, proteoglycans, and glycosaminoglycans. Developed by Cook Medical, the graft acts as a scaffold to support the natural healing and remodeling of the tympanic membrane. It is used in otologic procedures like myringoplasty and tympanoplasty to repair tympanic membrane perforations, offering an alternative to autologous tissue (such as temporalis fascia) and thereby eliminating the need for a donor site harvest and reducing operative time.
