Drug intelligence / Profile preview
BioFem Vag (also referred to as BioFemVage) is a vaginal probiotic capsule developed and marketed by Takgene Pharma. It contains the probiotic bacterium *Lactobacillus plantarum* at a strength of 1×10^9 CFU per capsule. The product is designed to restore and maintain the natural vaginal microflora, particularly after antibiotic therapy, and to prevent recurrent bacterial vaginosis and vulvovaginal candidiasis. *Lactobacillus plantarum* colonizes the vaginal epithelium, lowering vaginal pH through the production of organic acids (such as lactic acid) and producing antimicrobial compounds like hydrogen peroxide and bacteriocins, thereby inhibiting the growth and biofilm formation of pathogens like *Gardnerella vaginalis* and *Candida* species.
