Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**BioFil-AB** is a sterile topical wound-care formulation from Eucare containing fish-derived type I collagen particles with mupirocin 2% w/w and metronidazole 1% w/w. Mupirocin inhibits bacterial isoleucyl-tRNA synthetase and thereby suppresses protein synthesis, principally targeting susceptible gram-positive organisms including *Staphylococcus aureus*. Metronidazole is reduced in susceptible anaerobic microorganisms to reactive intermediates that damage microbial DNA. The lyophilized collagen matrix supports a moist wound environment, granulation tissue formation, and epithelialization. It is marketed in India for infected and chronic wounds, including diabetic foot ulcers, pressure ulcers, venous ulcers, traumatic wounds, and surgical wounds.
