Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Bioflutin is an over-the-counter (OTC) oral drop formulation containing etilefrin hydrochloride, a sympathomimetic small molecule. Developed and marketed by Südmedica GmbH, it is primarily indicated for the treatment of orthostatic hypotension and circulatory regulation disorders associated with low blood pressure. The active ingredient, etilefrin, acts as an agonist on alpha- and beta-adrenergic receptors. By stimulating these receptors, the drug induces peripheral vasoconstriction and enhances cardiac contractility, leading to an increase in blood pressure and improvement in symptoms such as dizziness, weakness, and visual disturbances associated with postural changes.
