Overview

BioLean is a multi-ingredient dietary supplement marketed for weight loss and weight maintenance. Developed by Wellness International Network (WIN), the product line includes the original BioLean formulation and BioLean Free. The original formulation historically contained ephedra alkaloids, while BioLean Free is formulated without ephedra, instead utilizing *Citrus aurantium* (standardized for synephrine), guarana (a source of caffeine), and green tea extract. These ingredients function as thermogenic agents and appetite suppressants by stimulating the central nervous system and increasing metabolic rate. The supplement was evaluated in a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial led by the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health to determine its efficacy in promoting weight loss and metabolic changes in overweight individuals.
