Overview
Biolectra Magnesium Forte is an oral dietary supplement and over-the-counter mineral preparation formulated as effervescent tablets containing magnesium oxide (equivalent to 243 mg of elemental magnesium). Originally developed by the German pharmaceutical company Hermes Arzneimittel and marketed in Portugal by Laboratórios Azevedos, it is indicated for the treatment and prevention of magnesium deficiency, particularly when associated with neuromuscular disorders, muscle tension, and calf cramps. Magnesium acts as a physiological calcium antagonist, blocking voltage-gated L-type calcium channels and NMDA receptors, thereby regulating muscle contraction, nerve conduction, and electrolyte balance.
