Biolik Tuberculin PPD-L

Biolik Tuberculin PPD-L is a diagnostic reagent developed by Biolik Biopharmaceutical for the detection of tuberculosis infection. The active ingredient is allergen-tuberculoprotein, a purified protein derivative (PPD) derived from heat-killed cultures of human and bovine *Mycobacterium tuberculosis*. It is administered intradermally via the Mantoux test. The reagent works by triggering a delayed-type hypersensitivity (Type IV) reaction in individuals who have been previously sensitized to the bacteria through natural infection or BCG vaccination. This reaction is characterized by local skin inflammation, induration, and papule formation at the injection site. It is primarily used for diagnosing latent tuberculosis infection, screening high-risk populations, and determining the necessity of BCG vaccination.
