Biombalance

Biombalance is a proprietary, oligomeric procyanidin-rich grape seed extract (GSE) developed by Euromed as a multifunctional nutraceutical ingredient for gut health and gut-brain axis modulation. It exhibits potent antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial properties. Mechanistically, Biombalance protects intestinal epithelial cells from oxidative damage, inhibits the expression of proinflammatory markers such as IL-6, IL-17, and TNF-α, and selectively modulates the gut microbiota by increasing beneficial taxa like *Bifidobacterium* and *Lactobacillus* while reducing potentially harmful Proteobacteria. Furthermore, it has been shown to influence key gut-brain axis mediators, including GLP-1 and its receptor. Preclinical studies in mice models of colitis have demonstrated its potential to reduce gut inflammation and oxidative stress, partly through modifications of the microbiota and its metabolites.
