BiomeBoost

BiomeBoost FMT (later approved and marketed under the brand name Biomictra) is a donor-derived fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) product developed by the Australian biotechnology company BiomeBank. It consists of screened and processed healthy human donor stool containing a diverse community of gut microbes, formulated with sodium chloride and glycerol, and stored frozen. BiomeBoost is designed to restore a balanced gut microbiome and replenish depleted gut microbial ecology. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of recurrent or refractory Clostridioides difficile infection (CDI), for which it received provisional approval from the Australian Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) in 2022. Additionally, it is being evaluated in clinical trials, such as a randomized study by Edith Cowan University, for the treatment of low anterior resection syndrome (LARS) in adults following colorectal cancer surgery, as well as other gastrointestinal and inflammatory conditions.
