Overview

BiOmega is a high-potency omega-3 dietary supplement developed and manufactured by USANA Health Sciences. It contains concentrated levels of eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) derived from cold-water fish oil, along with supplemental Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol). The primary mechanism of action involves the incorporation of EPA and DHA into cellular phospholipid bilayers, which modulates membrane fluidity and serves as a competitive substrate for enzymes like cyclooxygenase (COX) and lipoxygenase (LOX), thereby reducing the production of pro-inflammatory eicosanoids. Vitamin D3 acts as a ligand for the Vitamin D receptor (VDR), regulating gene expression related to calcium metabolism and immune function. It is primarily indicated for the support of cardiovascular health, cognitive function, and joint health.
