Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Biomodulina T (InmunyVital) is a biological immunomodulator composed of a polypeptide fraction derived from the bovine thymus. Developed and manufactured in Cuba by the National Center for Biopreparations (BioCen), it is designed to restore and enhance immune function, particularly in the context of immunosenescence and secondary immunodeficiencies. The drug acts by stimulating the thymus gland and promoting the differentiation, maturation, and proliferation of T lymphocytes. Clinical evidence indicates that Biomodulina T increases the population of naïve CD4+ T cells and stem cell-like memory CD8+ T cells while reducing the frequency of exhausted PD-1+ T cells and terminally differentiated EMRA T cells. It is approved in Cuba for the treatment of recurrent respiratory infections in the elderly and has been investigated as an adjuvant in cancer immunotherapy (e.g., with CIMAvax-EGF) and for the prevention of severe COVID-19.
