Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Bionanomatrix-AVF is a peptide-based nanomatrix gel developed by Endomimetics for the local treatment of arteriovenous fistula (AVF) dysfunction. Designed as a medical device combination product, the gel is applied directly to the AVF anastomosis site immediately following surgical creation. It utilizes a proprietary self-assembling peptide nanotechnology to provide a sustained release of nitric oxide (NO)—with an initial burst in the first 24 hours followed by sustained release over four weeks. The delivered NO aims to arrest neointimal proliferation, stimulate endothelialization, reduce inflammatory responses, and inhibit thrombogenesis, thereby improving the maturation and long-term durability of vascular access for hemodialysis patients.
