BioNidum is a therapeutic cell delivery platform developed by Dimension Bio (formerly Dimension Inx) for the treatment of liver failure, including acute liver failure and alcoholic liver disease. The platform utilizes 3D-printed poly lactic-co-glycolic acid (PLGA) scaffolds combined with materials science and digital manufacturing to transform hepatocytes (liver cells) into implantable, tissue-like therapies. By creating a three-dimensional architecture that promotes rapid vascularization and high-density cell engraftment, BioNidum functions as a supplemental 'mini-liver.' It is designed to be implanted subcutaneously to provide immediate restorative liver function, serving as a bridge therapy to stabilize patients in crisis until native liver recovery or transplantation becomes available.
