BIOS2220

BIOS2220 is an oral granule formulation of amlodipine besilate, a long-acting dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker (CCB). Developed by Hangzhou Baicheng Pharmaceutical Technology, it is intended for the treatment of hypertension and various forms of coronary artery disease, including chronic stable angina and vasospastic (Prinzmetal's) angina. The drug's mechanism of action involves inhibiting the transmembrane influx of calcium ions into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle cells, which leads to peripheral vasodilation, reduced peripheral vascular resistance, and decreased myocardial oxygen demand. BIOS2220 is being developed as a bioequivalent alternative to the reference drug Norvasc (amlodipine besilate tablets), with clinical evaluation focusing on its pharmacokinetic profile under fasting and fed conditions in healthy adult volunteers.
