Overview

BIOS2242 is a small molecule inhibitor of the Transient Receptor Potential Melastatin 2 (TRPM2) channel, currently under development by Zhejiang Saimo Pharmaceutical for the treatment of acute ischemic stroke (AIS). TRPM2 is a calcium-permeable non-selective cation channel that is activated by oxidative stress and plays a critical role in mediating neuronal injury and neuroinflammation following cerebral ischemia-reperfusion. By blocking TRPM2, BIOS2242 aims to provide neuroprotection, reduce infarct volume, and improve functional outcomes in patients with AIS. The drug is currently being evaluated in Phase II clinical trials in China.
