BIOT-NFL is a biotinylated peptide derived from the NFL-TBS.40-63 sequence, which corresponds to the tubulin-binding site of the light neurofilament chain (NFL). This research-grade compound is characterized by its ability to spontaneously self-assemble into stable nanofibers approximately 5 nm in width. BIOT-NFL serves as a potent cell-penetrating and targeting agent specifically designed to cross the blood-brain barrier (BBB) and the blood-brain tumor barrier (BBTB) to selectively target glioblastoma cells. In preclinical investigations, it is frequently utilized as a component of advanced drug delivery platforms, such as functionalized gold nanoparticles or liposomes, to facilitate the targeted delivery of chemotherapeutic agents like doxorubicin directly to brain tumor sites. This approach aims to enhance therapeutic efficacy through superior cellular uptake and induction of apoptosis while minimizing systemic off-target effects.
