Drug intelligence / Profile preview
BioTears refers to two distinct products used for the management of dry eye syndrome. The first is an oral nutritional supplement developed by BioSyntrx, formulated as gel capsules containing a proprietary blend of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids (from fish, cod liver, and black currant seed oils), vitamins (A, C, D3, E, B6), minerals, and other nutrients like lactoferrin and curcumin. This systemic approach aims to support the body's natural production of the three layers of the tear film. The second product is a topical ophthalmic lubricant, such as the one manufactured by Entod Pharmaceuticals, which contains polyethylene glycol (0.4%) and propylene glycol (0.3%). These eye drops function as demulcents to provide temporary relief from burning and irritation by stabilizing the tear film and increasing ocular surface moisture.
