Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Biotron is developing small molecule inhibitors that target the viroporin proteins of the Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV). Viroporins, such as the RSV Small Hydrophobic (SH) protein, are viral proteins that oligomerize to form ion channels in host cell membranes, which are essential for viral replication, assembly, and release. By blocking these channels, Biotron's compounds aim to inhibit the viral life cycle and provide a therapeutic option for RSV infections. The program is currently in the preclinical stage of development.
