Biovanta

**Biovanta** is an Applied Biological Laboratories over-the-counter respiratory-symptom product brand that includes throat sprays, lozenges, tablets, and multi-product kits. Drug-containing Biovanta formulations use acetylsalicylic acid as an NSAID analgesic; for example, the Dual Action throat spray contains 6 mg aspirin per spray and is labeled for temporary relief of minor aches and pains associated with sore throat. Some formulations also contain menthol as an antitussive, while lactoferrin, lysozyme, aloe, and related ingredients are listed as inactive ingredients or dietary-supplement components depending on the product. The brand has been studied in a completed randomized common-cold trial. Biovanta products should not be represented as FDA-approved treatments for COVID-19; FDA issued a March 24, 2022 warning letter concerning unapproved and misbranded COVID-19 claims for certain Biovanta products.
