BioXclude is a minimally manipulated, dehydrated human deepithelialized amnion-chorion membrane (ddACM) allograft derived from placental tissue. It is used primarily as a bioactive barrier membrane in dental, endodontic, oral maxillofacial, and periodontal regenerative procedures. The product consists of the inner (amnion) and outer (chorion) layers of the amniotic membrane, which are processed to remove epithelial cells while preserving biological activity. BioXclude acts as a cell-occlusive barrier that promotes healing by recruiting mesenchymal and hematopoietic stem cells to the site of application, stimulating angiogenesis through growth factor release, reducing inflammation via inherent anti-inflammatory properties, and providing antimicrobial effects due to naturally occurring peptides such as beta defensins. The high concentration of Laminin-5 supports rapid reattachment and epithelialization over exposed roots or surgical sites. The membrane resorbs within 8–12 weeks after placement[1][2][3][4][5][7].
