Drug intelligence / Profile preview
BIOxHEAL is an investigational human amniotic membrane-derived biologic therapy being developed by Applied Biologics for the treatment of chronic wounds, including nonhealing diabetic foot ulcers (DFUs), venous leg ulcers (VLUs), and pressure ulcers. Unlike passive wound covers, BIOxHEAL is designed as an active biologic therapy that works at the cellular and molecular levels to stimulate tissue regeneration, improve vascularization, and enhance the body's natural healing response. It is manufactured through a controlled, pharmaceutical-grade process to ensure consistent biologic activity and is being developed under the FDA Biologics License Application (BLA) pathway (Section 351 of the Public Health Service Act). BIOxHEAL is administered topically as a short-course adjunct to standard wound care.
