Overview

Biphasic insulin aspart 30 is a premixed insulin analog suspension consisting of 30% soluble insulin aspart (a rapid-acting insulin) and 70% protamine-crystallized insulin aspart (an intermediate-acting insulin). Developed by Novo Nordisk, it is designed to mimic the physiological insulin secretion pattern by providing both a rapid onset of action to control postprandial glucose spikes and a prolonged effect for basal glucose management. The soluble component is absorbed quickly, while the protamine-crystallized component is absorbed more slowly due to its crystalline structure. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of diabetes mellitus in adults, adolescents, and children, and is typically administered via subcutaneous injection before meals.
