Biphasic insulin aspart 70 (NN2000-Mix70) is a premixed insulin analog formulation developed by Novo Nordisk for the management of diabetes mellitus. It consists of a mixture of 70% soluble insulin aspart and 30% protamine-crystallized insulin aspart. The soluble component provides a rapid onset of action to control postprandial glucose excursions, while the protamine-crystallized component provides an intermediate duration of action for basal glucose control. This specific 70/30 ratio is designed for intensive insulin therapy, often administered three times daily (TID) to closely mimic physiological insulin secretion. It works by binding to the insulin receptor, stimulating peripheral glucose uptake into muscle and fat cells and inhibiting hepatic glucose production.
