Drug intelligence / Profile preview
300 IR Birch liquid sublingual immunotherapy (marketed as Staloral Birch) is a sublingual allergen immunotherapy solution developed by Stallergenes Greer. Its active ingredient is a standardized birch pollen allergen extract, with a maintenance dose of 300 IR (Index of Reactivity) per day. It is a biologic/allergen extract administered as a liquid sublingual drop formulation. The immunotherapy works by exposing the patient to standardized birch pollen allergens (primarily Bet v 1), which binds to IgE and modulates T-cell responses, thereby inducing immunological tolerance and reducing the allergic response. It is indicated for the treatment of birch pollen-induced allergic rhinoconjunctivitis (ARC) in adults, adolescents, and children, and has also shown efficacy in patients with associated oral allergy syndrome (OAS). It is administered pre- and co-seasonally, starting approximately 4 months before the birch pollen season and continuing through it.
