Overview

Biseko is a virus-inactivated, standardized human serum protein solution (5%) derived from pooled human plasma. It contains a physiological distribution of serum proteins, including albumin (approximately 31 g/L), immunoglobulins (IgG, IgA, IgM), transport proteins (such as transferrin and haptoglobin), and various clotting factors and inhibitors. Unlike standard albumin solutions, Biseko provides a full spectrum of serum antibodies, offering passive immunity and potential anti-inflammatory benefits in critically ill patients. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of hypoproteinemia, volume replacement, and as an adjunctive therapy in systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS) and sepsis. The product is manufactured by Biotest AG and is administered via intravenous infusion.
