bismuth subcitrate potassium

Bismuth subcitrate potassium (marketed under the brand name Bismanthin by Aani Darman) is a colloidal bismuth salt used primarily in combination with antibiotics (such as metronidazole and tetracycline) and a proton pump inhibitor (such as omeprazole) for the eradication of *Helicobacter pylori* infections and the treatment of peptic ulcer disease. It acts locally in the stomach by forming a protective, acid-resistant coating over the ulcerated mucosa, stimulating mucosal prostaglandin and bicarbonate secretion, and exerting direct bactericidal effects against *H. pylori*. It disrupts bacterial cell walls and inhibits key bacterial enzymes, including the ATP-dependent Clp protease ATP-binding subunit ClpX.
