Overview
Bisoprolol + amlodipine is a fixed-dose combination of two antihypertensive agents used primarily for the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure). The combination includes bisoprolol, a cardioselective beta 1 adrenergic receptor blocker that reduces heart rate and cardiac output, and amlodipine, a calcium channel blocker that relaxes vascular smooth muscle to lower peripheral resistance. Together, they act synergistically to reduce blood pressure more effectively than either agent alone. This combination is indicated in patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with monotherapy or who require multiple agents for optimal control. By lowering blood pressure, this therapy helps reduce the risk of cardiovascular events such as stroke and myocardial infarction[1][4][5][8].
