Overview

Bispecific antibody + activated T cells (BATs) is a combination immunotherapy platform being developed by Benhealth Biopharmaceutical, specifically for the treatment of refractory or relapsed leukemia in pediatric patients. The approach involves the ex vivo activation and expansion of T cells, which are then 'armed' by coating them with a bispecific antibody. This antibody is designed to bridge the activated T cells (typically via the CD3 receptor) to tumor-associated antigens on the surface of leukemia cells. This interaction triggers the direct cytotoxic activity of the T cells against the tumor, independent of MHC restriction. The program is currently in clinical development in collaboration with Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hospital.
