Bitter melon seed oil (BMSO) is a botanical extract derived from the seeds of *Momordica charantia*. It is characterized by a high concentration of conjugated linolenic acids, specifically alpha-eleostearic acid (α-ESA), which constitutes a significant portion of its fatty acid profile. Research in animal models suggests that BMSO exerts anti-adiposity effects by reducing body fat percentage and plasma leptin levels, likely through the upregulation of Sirt1 mRNA and the modulation of lipid metabolic signaling in white adipose tissue. The oil's bioactivity is primarily attributed to its free fatty acid fraction, which has been shown to be more effective than the triglyceride form in reducing adiposity.
