Overview

Biturest is a multi-ingredient pharmaceutical product line developed by Amvia Biotech, primarily indicated for the symptomatic relief of the common cold, cough, and fever in pediatric and adult patients. The standard formulations (Tablets and Syrups) typically combine paracetamol, phenylephrine, and cetirizine. Paracetamol serves as an analgesic and antipyretic by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis in the central nervous system. Phenylephrine acts as a decongestant by stimulating alpha-1 adrenergic receptors, leading to vasoconstriction in the nasal mucosa. Cetirizine is a second-generation antihistamine that antagonizes H1 receptors to alleviate allergic symptoms such as sneezing and rhinorrhea. A specific pediatric formulation, Biturest Drop, utilizes chlorpheniramine maleate as the antihistamine component instead of cetirizine.
