B-OPV (bivalent oral poliomyelitis vaccine) is a live attenuated oral vaccine containing Sabin strains of poliovirus types 1 and 3. It is administered orally as drops and is used for active immunization against infections caused by these two serotypes of the poliovirus. The bOPV formulation was introduced globally in routine immunization schedules after April 2016, replacing the trivalent OPV to focus on types still circulating in the wild.
