Overview

Bixolecumab is a humanized monoclonal antibody designed to target proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9). Developed by Kangrong Oriental (Guangdong) Pharmaceutical, it is primarily indicated for the treatment of primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia. The drug functions by binding to circulating PCSK9, preventing it from interacting with low-density lipoprotein receptors (LDLR) on the surface of hepatocytes. By inhibiting PCSK9-mediated degradation of LDLR, bixolecumab increases the density of these receptors, thereby enhancing the clearance of LDL cholesterol from the bloodstream. It is currently undergoing Phase 3 clinical evaluation in China.
