Overview

Bizalimogene ralaplasmid is a DNA vaccine consisting of plasmids encoding the E6 and E7 genes of human papillomavirus (HPV) subtypes 16 and 18. It is designed to elicit an immune response against cells expressing these HPV oncogenes, thereby providing immunostimulatory and antineoplastic effects. The drug is being developed primarily for the treatment of pre-cancers and cancers associated with HPV infection, such as cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) and anal intraepithelial neoplasia. Its mechanism involves stimulating the immune system to target HPV-infected or transformed cells[1][3][8]. The primary developer is Inovio Pharmaceuticals, with involvement from ApolloBio and AIDS Malignancy Consortium. The originator institution is University of Pennsylvania[3].
