Drug intelligence / Profile preview
BJ009 is an innovative subcutaneous formulation of cefazolin sodium, a first-generation cephalosporin antibiotic, developed by Shanghai Bao Pharmaceuticals. It utilizes the company's proprietary recombinant human hyaluronidase (rHuPH20) technology to enable high-volume subcutaneous administration, which aims to provide a more convenient and efficient alternative to traditional intravenous infusions. Cefazolin works by binding to and inhibiting penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) located on the inner membrane of the bacterial cell wall. This inhibition prevents the cross-linking of peptidoglycan chains, leading to the weakening of the cell wall and subsequent bacterial cell lysis. BJ009 is being developed for the treatment of various bacterial infections, including those of the respiratory tract, urinary tract, skin, and soft tissues, as well as for surgical prophylaxis.
