BJT-188 is a liver-targeted small molecule inhibitor of fatty acid synthase (FASN), developed by Bluejay Therapeutics for the treatment of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH). It is designed using Bluejay’s proprietary Liver-Targeting Advanced Platform (L-TAP) to achieve high potency in the liver with minimal systemic exposure, potentially reducing side effects commonly seen with other FASN inhibitors. Preclinical studies have shown that BJT-188 effectively inhibits de novo lipogenesis (DNL) in human hepatocytes and animal models, leading to reduced hepatic fat accumulation and inflammation—key drivers of MASH pathology. The drug has demonstrated up to 98% inhibition of DNL at tested doses in rats, with favorable liver-to-plasma distribution ratios compared to other FASN inhibitors such as denifanstat. As of May 2025, BJT-188 remains in preclinical development[1][2][3][4][5].
