Overview

BJTJ-0026 (also known as MT-1207) is an investigational oral small molecule G-protein coupled receptor 119 (GPR119) agonist being developed by Beijing Tuobixi Pharmaceutical (also known as Beijing Tuojie Pharmaceutical) in collaboration with Meiji Seika Pharma. GPR119 is a G-protein coupled receptor expressed primarily in pancreatic beta cells and intestinal L-cells. Activation of GPR119 by BJTJ-0026 stimulates insulin secretion in a glucose-dependent manner and promotes the release of glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) from the gut, which collectively improves glycemic control and may support the preservation of beta-cell function. The drug is currently in Phase I/II clinical development for the treatment of type 2 diabetes.
