Overview

BJTJ-0045 (also known as ME3208) is an investigational small molecule neuroprotective agent being developed by Beijing Tuobixi Pharmaceutical in collaboration with Meiji Seika Pharma for the treatment of acute ischemic stroke and other cerebral diseases. The drug acts as an antagonist of the **Transient Receptor Potential Melastatin 2 (TRPM2)** channel, a non-selective cation channel that is activated by oxidative stress and adenosine diphosphate ribose (ADPR). Activation of TRPM2 leads to excessive calcium influx, which is a key driver of neuronal cell death and neuroinflammation following ischemic injury. By inhibiting this channel, BJTJ-0045 aims to reduce infarct volume and improve functional outcomes in patients. It is currently in Phase I clinical development.
