Overview

BJTJ-0047-2 is an investigational oral small-molecule dual agonist of the glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor and the gastric inhibitory polypeptide (GIP) receptor. It is being developed by Beijing Tuobixi Pharmaceutical (also known as Beijing Tuojie Pharmaceutical) in collaboration with Meiji Seika Pharma for the treatment of obesity and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH). By simultaneously activating both the GLP-1 and GIP receptors, BJTJ-0047-2 aims to achieve synergistic effects on weight loss, glycemic control, and insulin sensitivity, while also addressing hepatic fat accumulation and inflammation. As an oral small molecule, BJTJ-0047-2 represents a potentially more convenient alternative to the injectable peptide-based dual agonists that currently dominate the metabolic disease landscape. The drug is currently in Phase 1 clinical development.
