Overview
BK virus-specific T cell therapy is an off-the-shelf, allogeneic T-lymphocyte cell therapy being developed by Cellevolve Bio for the treatment of BK polyomavirus (BKV) infections, particularly in immunocompromised patients and those with kidney disorders such as BK virus-associated nephropathy. Developed using the proprietary Cellution platform in collaboration with the QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute, the therapy consists of virus-specific T cells (VSTs) trained to recognize and eliminate BKV-infected cells through T-lymphocyte-mediated cytotoxicity. This approach aims to restore cellular immunity against the BK virus in patients, such as kidney transplant recipients, where viral reactivation can lead to significant graft dysfunction or loss.
