Drug intelligence / Profile preview
BK004 is an oral medical nutrition product developed by BiOkuris, a subsidiary of the KitoZyme Group, for the management of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), gas-related gastrointestinal disorders, and recurrent vulvovaginal candidiasis. The formulation is based on patented biopolymers—chitin-glucan and chitosan—extracted from the fungus *Aspergillus niger*. BK004 works through a multi-targeted approach that includes modulating the gut microbiota, strengthening the intestinal barrier, and reducing inflammation to restore homeostasis. Developed via the proprietary ScOpe™ platform, the product showed promising preclinical results compared to standard antifungal treatments like fluconazole and was positioned to enter clinical trials in 2024.
