Overview
BK1601 is a live attenuated measles-rubella (MR) combined vaccine candidate developed by The Research Foundation for Microbial Diseases of Osaka University (BIKEN). It is designed to provide active immunity against both measles and rubella viruses in pediatric populations. The vaccine is currently undergoing Phase III clinical evaluation in Japan, specifically in healthy toddlers aged 12 to 24 months who have not previously received measles or rubella vaccinations. As a live attenuated vaccine, BK1601 contains weakened forms of the Measles morbillivirus and Rubella virus, which are intended to stimulate a robust and lasting immune response, including the production of neutralizing antibodies, without causing the diseases themselves.
