Drug intelligence / Profile preview
BL-002 is a preclinical-stage therapeutic candidate being developed by Bloom Science for the treatment of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). The drug is designed to modulate cellular bioenergetics, addressing the metabolic deficits and mitochondrial dysfunction that are characteristic of ALS pathology. Developed using Bloom Science's proprietary IrisRx platform, which identifies neuroactive microbes and metabolites within the gut-brain axis, BL-002 aims to provide neuroprotection by optimizing energy metabolism in motor neurons. As a microbiome-based therapy, it represents a novel approach to treating neurodegenerative diseases by leveraging the systemic influence of the gut microbiota on central nervous system health.
