Overview

BL-1312 is a small molecule inhibitor of secretory phospholipase A2 (sPLA2) that was developed by BioLineRx for the treatment of dry eye syndrome. The drug was designed to address the inflammatory component of the disease by inhibiting the production of arachidonic acid, a precursor to various inflammatory mediators like prostaglandins and leukotrienes. By targeting sPLA2, BL-1312 aimed to reduce ocular surface inflammation and improve symptoms in patients with dry eye. The candidate was licensed from Yissum, the technology transfer company of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, but development was discontinued as it is no longer listed in the company's active pipeline.
