BL-4050

BL-4050 is a discontinued small molecule drug candidate that was being developed by BioLineRx for the treatment of chronic liver diseases, primarily Hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection. It was designed as an orally bioavailable inhibitor of the HCV NS3 protease, an enzyme essential for viral polyprotein processing and replication. By targeting a highly conserved region of the NS3 protease, BL-4050 aimed to provide a high barrier to resistance and broad-spectrum activity across different HCV genotypes. Despite promising early-stage data, BioLineRx discontinued the development of BL-4050 in the early 2010s (around 2012) following a strategic portfolio review and potentially due to the rapidly evolving landscape of direct-acting antivirals (DAAs) for HCV.
