Drug intelligence / Profile preview
BL-5010 is a topical aqueous fixed-dose formulation of **trichloroacetic acid** and **formic acid** developed for non-surgical removal of benign skin lesions, principally seborrheic keratosis. The formulation acts as a localized chemical escharotic and keratolytic: following direct lesion application, it causes controlled chemical injury, dehydration, coagulative necrosis, and progressive separation of the lesion from underlying skin. BioLineRx developed BL-5010 under an exclusive license from Innovative Pharmaceutical Concepts; a multicenter Phase I/II study in 60 patients with seborrheic keratosis reported high lesion-clearance rates and favorable cosmetic outcomes. The product subsequently received CE Mark approval in Europe as an over-the-counter Class IIa medical-device treatment for non-surgical skin-lesion removal.
